LESSON 29
TOPIC: Serve God with Money (3) TEXT: Luke 12:13-21

MEMORY VERSE: Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his
riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. To teach the Children to beware of greed.
2. To Let the Children know that when we are givers it will help us to overcome greed.
3. To let the children know that they must not be selfish but give to God generously.

CENTRAL TRUTH
Beware of greed.

INTRODUCTION
Children what does it mean to be greedy? (Allow the children to respond, and then tell them the answer). It is an excessive desire for food or anything else like wealth without any consideration for others. , is God happy with us when we are greedy? No. Let’s listen to our lesson today as we learn about a rich man who was greedy.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Jesus told a parable to warn about covetousness.
2. The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully.
3. The man thought within himself as what to do because he had no where to store his fruits.
4. He decided to pull down his barns and build a bigger one where he could store all
    his fruits and goods.
5. Then he told himself, “Soul, that has much goods laid up for many years; take thins ease, eat,
    Drink and be merry.
6. But God said unto Him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall
those things be, which thou hast provided?
7. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

LIFE APPLICATION
This man was selfish and greedy, he only thought of himself. He was not rich toward God. God
was not in his thinking at all. God expects us to serve Him with whatever He gives us. God is our
creator, he owns our life. God gave us life and He can take it back anytime, so therefore we
should appreciate God by giving back to Him whatever He gives us. Because all we have come
from God.

MESSAGE OF SALVATION
Be rich toward God, because God is the giver of life. He gave us all things. He gave us His
only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Saviour. John 3:16.

CONCLUSION
God is our model giver. He gave us life and He gave us all things, so we must give back to God in
appreciation of what He has given us. We must be rich towards God, who gave us all things.

CHALLENGE
Be rich toward God. Give to God generously. Don’t think of yourself only and give to the
work of God.

INVITATION
The rich man did not know Jesus that was why God was not in His thinking at all; he was not rich
toward God. If Jesus is in your heart, you would be rich toward God. Have you asked Jesus into
your heart? Revelations 3:20. Do so today and you would be rich towards God. Greed would be
far away from you.
